Directions to Trinity

Trinity is easily accessible via public transportation or car. View directions to Trinity by: Metrorail, Automobile, Air, or Train.

By Metrorail/Trinity Shuttle

Trinity is close to the Brookland/CUA Metro station on the red line (for further information on the Trinity Shuttle schedule, contact Department of Public Safety at 202-884-9111).

To catch the shuttle at the Brookland/CUA station, exit to the right. At the top of the escalator, turn left and walk to the end of the iron railing and wait for the shuttle with the Trinity logo on the side.

From the Northwest: From I-495 (the Washington Beltway), take Exit 31B, Georgia Avenue South. Proceed approximately six miles, crossing the Maryland/DC line. Turn left on Irving Street (the three preceding streets are Morton, Lamont, and Kenyon). Cross Warder Street and at the next intersection, turn right onto Park Place. In one block bear left onto Michigan Avenue. Continue on Michigan, crossing First, North Capital, and Franklin Streets. Trinity College is on the right.

From the Northeast: From I-95 take I-495 South. Follow 495 to exit 19B, Route 50 West/Washington. Follow Route 50 West approximately five and one half miles to South Dakota Avenue and turn right onto South Dakota. Follow South Dakota one and one half miles to Monroe Street. On the right corner is a sign posted for Trinity and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Turn left onto Monroe and follow Monroe, staying in left lane, approximately two miles until Monroe dead ends into Michigan Avenue. Turn left onto Michigan and proceed a short distance passing the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on your right. Cross Irving Street, and Trinity College will be on the left.

From the South: From I-495 (the Washington Beltway), take Exit 4B, 395 North, Washington. Continue on 395 North. Watch the exit signs. After Exit 10, get in the right-hand lanes (after Exit 11, the road divides and the left-hand lanes funnel onto Route 1). Continue on 395 North. Watch the exit signs carefully but do not take any of them, as you want to remain on 395. Continue on 395 North (follow signs) until it ends at New York Avenue. Turn right onto New York Avenue. Go through 2 traffic lights, take first right-hand turn after 2nd light (this is M Street). Continue on M Street for a short distance; at 2nd traffic light, make a left-hand turn onto North Capitol Street. Proceed approximately 1 mile; at 8th traffic light make a right-hand turn onto Michigan Avenue. Trinity College is on the right after first traffic light.

By Air

The Washington, DC metropolitan area is served by three major airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Dulles International Airport, and Baltimore Washington International Airport.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to Trinity
Metrorail has a station located at the Concourse (Level 2) of the New Terminal. You can take the Metrorail ($1.60/non rush hour per person) from the airport to Trinity. At the airport Metro station, take either the Yellow Line toward Mt. Vernon Square/UDC or the Blue Line toward Addison Road. If on the Yellow Line, get off at the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop; if on the Blue Line, get off at the Metro Center stop. Transfer to the Red Line in the direction of Wheaton. Get off at the Brookland/CUA Metrorail station and look for the Trinity Shuttle (Free), which leaves Trinity every twenty minutes (weekdays; holidays and weekend times vary) for the Metro station. A taxi cab from the airport to Trinity will cost approximately $16.00 per person. The dispatcher outside the airport will assist you in getting a taxi and answer any questions. There are also several rental car companies at both National and Dulles airports.

Washington Dulles International Airport to Trinity
You can take the Washington Flyer bus (703-685-1400, $8.00 per person) from Dulles Airport to the West Falls Church Metro Station (Orange Line). At West Falls Church, board the Metro ($1.60 non rush hour per person) in the direction of New Carrollton. At Metro Center, transfer to the Red Line in the direction of Wheaton. Get off at the Brookland/Catholic University Metro station. From the Brookland Metro station, you can take the Trinity Shuttle (Free).

You also can take the Washington Flyer Express bus from Dulles Airport directly to downtown Washington, DC ($16.00 per person, $26.00 round-trip). From the Washington Flyer terminal, you can take a taxi to Trinity College (approximately $7.00 for one person, $9.00 for two people). The fare for a taxi from Dulles Airport to Trinity would be approximately $70 one way (if there are several people in your party, it may be worth looking into).

Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) to Trinity (30 miles)
By Super Shuttle (1-800-258-3826, $21.00 per person, $32.00 round trip)

Go to the Super Shuttle desk on the lower level of the terminal and buy ticket. The Super Shuttle will deliver you to 1517 K Street, N.W. (the In-Town Terminal). Taxis (approximately $7.00 for one person, $9.00 for two people) can be hailed just outside the terminal, or you can take Metrotrail ($1.10 non rush hour per person) from the Farragut North (Red Line) Metro station toward Wheaton. Get off at the Brookland/CUA Metro station. From there you can take the Trinity Shuttle (Free).

By Amtrak via Union Station

The following Amtrak trains arrive in Union Station in Washington, DC, on a regular schedule. Contact Amtrak (800-USA-RAIL) for schedules and fares: Metroliner, NorthwestDirect, Vermonter, Keystone, Capitol Limited, Cardinal, Carolinian/Piedmont. From Washington's Union Station, you can take a cab or Metrorail (red line to Brookland/CUA Metro station).
