Assistant Dean of Student Services

Trinity, a comprehensive university in Washington, D.C., has an opening for an Assistant Dean of Student Services. This creative and professional individual works closely with the Dean of Students to implement dynamic programs which support the academic and student life mission of Trinity. The Assistant Dean’s negotiation and influential skills help her to create opportunities for involvement, which motivate and inspire students to become active members of the campus community. Living on campus, this person provides overall direction, leadership and management of student life programs.

The responsibilities of the Assistant Dean include, but are not limited to:

Oversight of all student activities; the coordination of the opening and closing of the residence halls; development of a governance board for residential students; coordination of residence life staff selection and training; development of marketing and promotion strategies for campus programs; service as advisor to the student government association, yearbook staff and student clubs; facilitation of campus community involvement in the planning of campus-wide programs; and other relevant duties as directed by the Dean of Students.

Qualifications:
Because the position requires residence in a women's dormitory, the individual must be a female.
• Master’s degree in student personnel or related field.
• Three to five years of full-time relevant experience in higher education
• Two years in academic support work at a college or university with increasing administrative and managerial responsibilities
• Polished interpersonal and customer service skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong conflict-negotiation skills
• Working experience in budget management
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff
• Ability to work regular office hours, with the flexibility to work evening and weekend assignments and events
